According to stylist April Price of Annastasia Salon in Portland, Oregon, long hair today is soft, touchable and so very feminine. For up-styles, she sees an array of looks taking hold - Many women want simple styles that offer a personalized statement while others go for bold and solid futuristic shapes with lots of geometry and loads of texture.

When creating these up-styles, April likes to mix things up a bit with texture, doing intricate braiding with smooth hair or adding a tight crimp first and applying larger braids for edginess. She also uses this tight crimp technique just at the base near the scalp when serious lift is needed for otherwise non-crimped styles, all without backcombing.

For this up-style April went for a futuristic boldness with retro wisps and loops. It’s sort of a modern pin-up that sits on a diagonal with a very exaggerated silhouette. April explains the inspiration as ribbon Christmas candy, swooped, looped and boldly rolled and intertwined.

To create this look, April started with a lot of backcombing or teasing to build up the lift at the root and then she smoothed over the surface to direct the hair into shape, pinning everything into place as she worked. The end result is pure perfection!

I love to try new and unique hair and beauty products and tools. And in my quest for all things pretty, I came across a small line of hair care products with a simple but effective message... Beauty is not a product, it's a state of mind!

Having that mix of wave and frizz, I was fortunate enough to get to try some of the line for myself. In doing so, I found three specific styling aides that I feel are more than deserving of a shout-out. Fitting perfectly into my daily style regime, they seemed to be made just for me.

First there's Kalea Rose Sleek Anti-Frizz Cream. This versatile potion was specifically designed for highly textured hair. It can be used for straight or curly styles and it smoothes the frizz and cuts down on drying time leaving silky, touchable results. I Simply emulsified a small amount and applied to my damp hair before styling as usual. Sleek Anti-Frizz Cream can also be cocktailed, or mixed, with other products to offer frizz control as needed when styling or touching hair up.

Kalea Rose Alloy is a thermal protectant and shine enhancing product developed specifically for work with irons or other heated tools. When flat ironing, I found that the tool glides through hair easier and leaves behind a soft, silky luster. It also works well with curling irons and offers protection for hot rollers and even blow dryers. Multi-weight silicones work to shield the hair from heat and styling damage, while various botanicals condition and seal hair imparting a shine that lasts for days. I applied as needed to damp or dry hair, but before adding heat of any kind.

Kalea Rose Moon Shine is a clear, weightless, spray-on laminate with protective filters to minimize sun damage. It added shine to my dry and dull hair. It also seems to smooth down frizzy or fried ends, and dries clear without a trace. This alcohol-free shine-enhancer does not weigh hair down and leaves a lightly floral, but not frilly scent behind.

My Experience
I was provided the opportunity to give Pantene Pro-V Ultimate 10 BB Crème a try when Pantene sent a complementary bottle. My frizz factor has been unusually high due to humid summer days, so the promise of relief was more than welcome.

Before (air dried) / After 2 weeks (blow dried)

To clean damp hair I applied a couple of pumps of the crème all over. I combed through to make sure it was distributed evenly, which is where I noticed the first two benefits. I found the fragrance to be light and clean and also noticed an easier slide through my strands with the detangling comb. Having natural wave and a coarse texture, detangling damp hair is typically a painful task.

I styled as usual, but without any other products so I could compare the results objectively. In the end, smoother, silkier hair emerged, especially when used over time.

A single pump applied over the top

I found that applying more creme over the surface of my dry hair was the ticket. An additional pump was emulsified into my hands and then I ran my palms over the surface to finish off the style. It diminished my flyaways and kept my strands from frizzing up during even the hottest, most humid of days.

My Take

I am a big fan of ENJOY's Hair & Skin Treatment Oil products so I was definitely willing to see what this new product is all about. In a nutshell, it's a lightweight, non-aerosol spray-on oil that adds softness and moisture to skin and hair without feeling heavy or greasy. It has a delicate scent that is not overpowering and works well on my dry ends. I rub whatever is leftover on my hands, arms, elbows, knees or wherever I feel dryness. A little does go a long way and the easy to use small size makes it a great product for traveling. Consider it recommended.
