Shimmer & Shine - Trends for the Holidays

KEVIN.MURPHY Shimmers & Shines

One of the hottest hair trends to walk the runway for Spring 2014 at New York Fashion Week was gold detailing, as seen at Jason Wu, Elie Saab, Lela Rose, Dries Van Noten and Dior. For a wearable take on this high fashion look, KEVIN.MURPHY stylist and founder Kevin Murphy suggests using SHIMMER.SHINE, a repairing shine mist, or SHIMMER.BUG, a temporary color hair shadow.

“Adding gold detail to your hair with styling products is an easy way to adopt one of the season’s biggest trends,” explains Murphy.

For a golden, dewy look, SHIMMER.SHINE features a light-reflective technology derived from skincare formulation to give hair brilliant shine with no oily residue. Simply spray lightly over hair after styling for a luminous finish or wear at the end of the day over naturally dried hair for a misty, golden look that’s perfect for summer nights.

“SHIMMER.BUG gives hair multi-dimensional, golden highlights without the commitment of permanent color. I recommend using this product around the face rather than on the ends,” continues Murphy. “Wear SHIMMER.BUG over the top of side-parted hair, at the roots, or soften a slicked-back hairstyle by incorporating product at the hairline.”

SHIMMER.SHINE contains treatment ingredients such as essential oils, bioflavonoids and vitamins to repair damaged hair. Other key ingredients include Australian rainforest fruit extracts rich in vitamins and essential fatty acids, antioxidant Immortelle, and boabab seed oil to moisturize while improving elasticity.

SHIMMER.BUG gives hair instantaneous metallic highlights with color that washes out after one use. To get the look, first apply styling product to hair; for more intense color, prep hair with a thicker paste product, and for a lighter shade, use a spray.

All KEVIN.MURPHY products are paraben and sulfate free and contain essential oils that act as bio-catalysts, performing natural regenerative, moisturizing and strengthening functions. The range is based upon an environmentally friendly Australian philosophy, and all packaging is 100% recyclable. In 2011, founder Kevin Murphy was selected as a Climate Connector for Al Gore’s non-profit, The Climate Reality Project. Murphy works within the stylist and hairdresser community to educate the industry on reducing its carbon footprint and the effects of climate change. In 2012, the brand was given the PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) seal of approval as a cruelty-free company that does not harm or test on animals.

KEVIN.MURPHY is a fashion-focused range of professional hair care products conceived in
the world of session styling. The company’s mission is to share cutting edge style via modern technology – straight from the runways of the world to the salon floor, from hair
artisan to consumer. SHIMMER.SHINE ($27.50) and SHIMMER.BUG ($25.00) are currently
available in salons.
