Hope + Optimism

With a message of hope and optimism, THE SALON at ULTA Beauty Artistic Team proudly unveils an inspirational collection of alluring new looks. Each offers a courage-filled and cure-bent vision in honor of and in time for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

For this series, the talented Artistic Team went for an eclectic mix of textures, shapes and finishes for the hair and makeup while tying in an unmistakably vintage vibe with the fashion. Somewhat ornate, sometimes frilly and other times freshly formfitting, the appeal is inherently refined and is nothing less than fabulously feminine.
Mirrored Musing (above)

The Hair: This short version of the pixie pays homage to the classic Twiggy hairstyle of the early 60’s. Worn smooth and slightly longer on top, this timeless cut is accented with a splash of pink at the root, which offers a thoroughly modern twist and an air of womanly confidence.

The Makeup: An all-pink palette adds a very soft feminine touch and nicely accents the splash of color in the hair. The eyes offer some shimmer of pink and vanilla tones but are well lined for a slight 60’s twiggy tie-in. The blushing cheeks bring out a youthful exuberance and liveliness that matches her smile and rosy lips.
The Fashion: The nude sheer top with chunky rhinestone pattern clothing blends a 1970’s hippie off-the-shoulder blouse silhouette with the heavy use of rhinestones, which was a popular fabric embellishment for party dresses throughout the 1920’s. A time travel through some of the most exciting decades in both fashion and hair brought harmony and innovation to this confident look. Haute Hippie, www.hautehippie.com

Swept Away
The Hair: A somewhat gamine hairstyle circa 1980 is turned ultra-feminine through the use of pastel color accents and a flutter of curl through the heavy, side-swept fringe.

The Makeup: A tender smokey eye is outlined with a sparkling plum, contoured with cocoa brown and highlighted at the brow bone with a creamy vanilla. A full lip in a deep fuchsia shade complements the overall palette, adding emphasis to her strong features.

The Fashion: The feminine feel of the hair was complemented with a classic ladylike piece both in silhouette in the flowery details. This 1950’s vintage silk-chiffon ruched bodice dress features pink and green flowers crafted in silk and velvet. Southpaw NYC Vintage, www.southpawvintage.com.

Seeing Forward

The Hair: This mid length hairstyle offers all-over fullness and volume for a robust shape. Internally, layers and wisps of bright pink add both dimension and movement evoking some serious but scandal-free sex appeal.

The Makeup: A perky pink pout accents the flutter of the color wandering through the ends of the hair while a softer pink punch adds color and dimension to the cheeks. For the eyes, the lids were done with a fluid line caressing the lashes, and contoured with a tawny birch and cool beige. A matte vanilla underneath the brow enhances the perfect frame for these glamorous eyes.

The Fashion: To compliment the voluminous hairstyle, a body conscious silhouette was selected for the wardrobe. The above shoulder hair was ideal to show an interesting neckline and textured details throughout the clothing so a sheer nude crop top with silver chain fringe was chosen along with a silk nude neckpiece with metal and silver beaded accents. Conjuring Hope

The Hair: A towering twister of frothy pink and purple tones, this overstated shape is a very modern version of a 60’s inspired Beehive.
The Makeup: Lighter pinks swipe softly across the eyelids while an ultra-fine line traces the top edge before blasting outward with lengthy, fawny lashes. It is all tied in with a bold pink brow emphasizing a kissable pink pout on a flawless face.

The Fashion: A vintage 1920’s dusty pink dress embellished with intricate silver beadwork. By looping in one of the pink shades from the hair into the clothing, a visual harmony was maintained in the vertical line of sight running through the image. Southpaw NYC Vintage, www.southpawvintage.com

Ignition

The Hair: This honey-toned length spans from darker roots and blows outward into a free-flowing shape.

The Makeup: A rose pink lip is balanced with shades of soft lavender and sparkling white gold for the eyes. The delicate smokey eye is accented with flirty lashes and a hint of highlight at the outer brow line. Lastly, a touch of petal pink adds a healthy hint of color at the cheekbones.

The Fashion: This one-of-a-kind baby pink silk tulle ball gown features a silk bodice that is corseted with hand picked Parisian feather and rhinestone accents. Pairing this voluminous, frothy dress with this hairstyle balances the final image and offers a soft translucent quality for a slightly frilly airiness.
