Rhonda Tara Rhea |
Very Vivid - Creative Color Canvas
The Looks:
For Rhonda, stylist James Dinkel of The David Salon in Costa Mesa, California cut a long, modified shag with a heavy fringe. For her color, he started with her natural ash re-growth and warm gold previous color on the length and produced a fiery red with wild sparks of brighter red and orange burning through.
To style, Goldwell Flat Marvel cream silicone was worked through before blow-drying and smoothing with a large round brush. James added Sleek Perfection and flat ironed, finishing with Magic Finish Gloss.

Nicole Ankenman, also of The David Salon in Costa Mesa, California started with a long A-line bob for Tara and created a blending of radiant pinks and light copper through a rich violet brown base.
Tara’s hair was styled using Goldwell Lagoom Jam and Deep Reflects leave-in treatment on damp strands. Nicole flat wrapped while drying with a half paddle brush. Hot Form was misted on 2-inch sections, which were wrapped around a 1-inch iron, alternating curl direction. Nicole fingered through the hair and finished using Unlimitor wax spray for texture.

Starting with Rhea’s natural color and grown out shoulder-length strands, colorist Victoria Pelaez of Salon Kavi in San Mateo, California created a robust transition of sunny color through a rich dark brown base.
Karla Pelaez-Barrick stepped in and produced a short asymmetrical cut, which featured graduation in the back and extreme length on one side. Using a razor, lots of weight was removed from Rhea’s thick, coarse hair so it would lay better. Using a clipper-over-comb technique, Karla crafted a super short nape of the neck and side, and then carved into the shorter side with the clippers creating a unique design.
Kerastase Nectar Thermique and Elixir Ultime were layered on before Karla blow-dried while flat wrapping the hair with a vent brush. Once dry, she flat ironed a few pieces for control, finishing off this sleek but edgy look.
