Bridal Inspiration by Loverly

Bridal Bliss

I jumped at the chance to work with Lover.ly, a one-stop-shop for all things bridal. They asked me to look through their assortment of wedding dresses and pick one, and then to pair the gown with hair and makeup for the perfect special day.

The Dress
I instantly fell in love with this little beauty called Charlize from Greydon Hall. I've always loved simple, classic beauty and this one really spoke to me!

Draped in stunning Swarovski crystals around the front neckline and down the back, and crafted from bias-cut silk charmeuse, Charlize absolutely radiates old Hollywood glamour. Simple yet striking, this gown’s graceful neckline, plunging back and elegantly cut but flowing skirt that delicately pools at the floor, have a wonderful vintage appeal. Available in white or ivory, I opted for the pastel eggshell hue for this blushing bride, which was best for a retro-inspired vibe. It worked well with her warm skin tone and completed my vintage bridal vision.

The Hair
To accent the formfitting and figure-accenting cut of the dress and take advantage of the low, swooping back, I went for a smoothed-back hairstyle with very precise detail at the back of the head.

Sleekly blown out strands are smoothed back into a low ponytail and held in place with a coated elastic band. After dividing the pony into three equal sections, each was barrel rolled under and then pinned back into the base of the ponytail, misting with working spray for a light, pliable finish.

The Makeup
I paired the elegant hair with a hint more excitement in the makeup. This makeup was designed to complement the silky sleekness of the smooth ivory silk charmeuse fabric of the dress and accent the sparkles of light caught by the Swarovski crystals around the neckline and swooping down the back.

A great technique to introduce drama, a lined eye is taken into a slightly smoky look, by smoothing the entire eyelid with a cream colored shimmer. A charcoal lash line is added, smudging it into a bronzy brown. Add lashes for glamorous length, a pop of warmth at the cheek and then top off the look with a classic red lip (Ruby Woo by MAC). Add short, French manicured nails and you are good to go!

The end result is absolutely stunning! I love the interaction of sleekness between the fabric of the dress, her skin and the hair. It's all so very elegant and is understated glamour at its best!
